Barely a day since the horrific images from Tripoli where nearly 50 people are dead, some are partying on this Saturday night in Beirut. The video above is one of three separate fireworks displays I’ve witnessed in the past couple hours.

It’s hard to capture the heart-pounding sound waves these massive explosions send as they reverberate throughout the city and across the hillside suburbs. Needless to say, fireworks are completely unregulated in Lebanon with deadly amounts of munitions made available to the public.

Makes you wonder, what is more worrying? Three bombs in one week leaving hundreds of innocent victims amid warnings that there could be even more bombs to come? Or the fact that some still find blowing things up to be a perfectly natural and fun activity, even as we bury the dead?
