If you’ve been driving around the suburbs of Beirut lately, you may have noticed most of the traffic lights have stopped working.

But never fear. According to this official interviewed by LBC, everything should be back up and running “in about a week”

The official blamed a vague dispute involving the finance minister and a Spanish firm that installed the lights–a “complicated commitment” he said– whatever that means.

Oh and don’t worry about abiding by any non-enforced laws in the meantime. No one is watching the street cameras either:
