So some crazy Lebanese kids are putting together a festival to celebrate nature and save sea urchins, which are apparently going extinct. They’ve sent me this short video to promote the event known as the Wicker Park Festival, taking place at the coastal town of Batroun from June 29-30 and featuring two days of music, films and efforts to preserve the environment, they say, in cooperation with the Marine Biology Center of Batroun.
I’ve got to say, it’s a strange spot but good for them! Lebanon’s environment is a complete mess and needs all the help it can get. Thankfully these young folks are doing something as opposed to our politicians who have proved absolutely useless on environmental issues if not benefited financially as their developer friends dig up and dump garbage across the country everyday with little regard for anyone but themselves.
