The former minister Charbel Nahhas is being sued by the head of supermarket chain Spinneys for defamation.
Among the charges is that Nahhas, who helped form a union for uninsured Spinney’s workers, shared negative articles about the company on his Facebook page.
The move underscores the fear major corporations and politicians have of social media. I wonder if there is a precedent for suing over likes and shares.
One activist present during the proceedings joked that Spinney’s attorneys criticized activists for attending the trial but that the judge threw the argument out saying: “They can invite whoever they want on Facebook.”
