“The problem with you journalists–some of you– is that you believe the liar and make the trustworthy lie.”
That’s how Interior Minister Marwan Charbel began a news conference yesterday after he was questioned about this picture of him and Ahmad Al Assir, who led a bloody insurgency against the army this week.

“I only met him once in my life,” said Charbel, explaining that the encounter took place when negotiating with Assir over roadblocks he had set up last year.
“I never met him again.”
LBC however, did some homework and found that the minister had actually met Assir several other times.
Good for LBC for holding a politician accountable for once. This should happen on a daily basis and not only when a minister unwisely insults the media.
