Six years ago, Lebanon’s telecom minister promised that the country would enter the knowledge economy “through the front door.”

Today the ministry is using similar language in touting a fiber optic deployment. But how far along is the project and how many more years will Lebanese internet users be waiting ages for downloads?

By the way, my internet has gotten even slower in the 15 minutes it has taken me to write this post. I just checked the download bar again and it has now revised the time needed to download Skype to 16 hours:
